What is the market for old comics in 2023?
Is this a good time to sell my comic book collection?
Comic book prices have come down since the exuberance of the pandemic years, but silver and gold have retained much of their value, and like stocks, even in a downturn your initial investment has continued to rise over the long haul. Bronze age in very high grade is also a good bet.
So if you need your cash for a college bound child, a wedding, or your own retirement, selling now might be still be a solid option. We have seen prices stabilize over the past few months and sales have been solid during the last two conventions.
Ted VanLiew of Superworld Comics has always advised his customers to focus on the blue chip silver age and bronze age keys and rare Golden Age even if it means snagging a lower grade copy, or just buying less volume. Always avoid the modern “Collectors Items” which are doomed to never be rare enough to hold value.
Marvel keys are always saleable, and Golden Age has a loyal fanbase of collectors. DC’s don’t command the same high prices except for the “honorary Marvels” like Batman or Detective.
